Wynie Dearlove, Biblical Counsellor | CYC (Ontario)
I am an ABC certified Biblical Counsellor with a background in Child and Youth Care and extensive experience supporting children, teens, and families within educational, child welfare, and mental health settings. I bring together professional training and a gospel-centred approach to counselling, walking alongside families as they learn to trust the Lord in seasons of struggle, uncertainty, and growth.
I began pursuing biblical counselling near the end of my career as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner. Through years of working with families navigating complex systems, I recognized the deep value of faith in sustaining parents and children. Also, I experienced the limitations of those settings where Scripture, prayer, and biblical wisdom were often discouraged.
The Lord graciously redirected my path through opportunities in Christian education and formal training in biblical counselling. I am thankful for the privilege of supporting individuals and families as they reflect on how God has been at work in their lives and learn to trust Him with what lies ahead.
I view biblical counselling as a relational and coaching-oriented partnership, particularly when working with parents. I seek to walk alongside families as they navigate challenges with their children, helping them respond with wisdom, patience, and hope grounded in God’s Word.
My counselling is shaped by Scripture, prayer, and trust in the Lord’s sovereignty and care. I help counsellees reflect on God’s presence in their story and invite them to rely on His guidance rather than their own understanding.
My primary areas of focus include:
- Children and teens
- Parents and families
- Foster and adoptive families
- Attachment and relational challenges
- Trauma and anxiety
I seek to bring thoughtful care to the emotional and relational experiences of families while consistently pointing them to the hope found in Christ.
I am married and enjoy time with my three adult children and four grandchildren. I find refreshment through physical activity and being outdoors including kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, and walking along the beach in every season. I also enjoy crocheting, knitting, and learning new creative skills.
Daily time in God’s Word, prayer, worship music, and involvement in church life are important rhythms that support my spiritual and emotional well-being.
I am especially mindful of the pressures parents place on themselves. I often remind families that children are a gift from the Lord and that He is actively at work in parent-child relationships. While parents carry real responsibility, the Lord is gracious and faithful to equip them as they learn to rely on Him.
