cody simpsonCody John Simpson, Associate Biblical Counsellor

I am an ABC Certified Biblical Counsellor, pastor, and church planter who serves men and couples walking through seasons of hardship, discouragement, and suffering. Many people seek help as they wrestle with relational struggles, spiritual questions, or patterns that leave them feeling stuck and hopeless.

My desire in counselling is to help people grow in a deeper understanding of God’s love and grace, and to discover how the gospel speaks into the real struggles they are facing today.

Areas of Focus
My primary areas of focus include:
• Men wrestling with spiritual and emotional struggles
• Men struggling with pornography and sexual sin
• Marital and pre-marital counselling (together with my wife)

I am available for counselling both online and in-person for those living in the Montreal area.

Calling and Journey
It was through my early experiences discipling new believers in our church plant that I first recognized how deeply people need biblical answers to the struggles of the heart and soul. I also saw how important it is for people to have a community that receives them with grace when they are walking through confusing and painful seasons of life.

More than anything, it has been my own experience of personal brokenness and God’s incredible grace toward me that has shaped my heart for counselling.

The story of Jesus is one of gracefilled redemption. For me, this is not simply a belief but a lived reality. I have seen that transformation, healing, and growth are real works that God continues to accomplish in the lives of His people.

My Approach to Counselling
My approach to counselling is deeply gospel-centred. True healing ultimately comes from Jesus Christ. As Dane Ortlund writes in Gentle and Lowly, Jesus is the “most understanding” and “approachable person in the universe.”

In counselling, I seek to create a space of acceptance and understanding, remembering that both counsellor and counsellee are fellow travellers in a broken world who need the grace of Christ. Together we turn to Scripture to seek God’s wisdom, guidance, and comfort in the midst of life’s challenges.

I also approach counselling with a holistic perspective. God cares for the whole person (body, mind, and soul) and insights from common grace can help us understand how to live healthy and God-honouring lives.

Life Beyond Counselling
My wife and I live in the suburbs west of Montreal with our two young children. Much of my free time is spent studying spiritual formation and the Christian disciplines, areas that deeply shape both my personal faith and pastoral ministry.

Outside of that, I enjoy reading classic literature and history, as well as long-distance running.

An Invitation
If you are considering counselling, you may already be facing challenges that feel overwhelming or confusing. Taking the step to speak with someone can feel difficult, but it can also be an important step toward clarity and hope.

My desire is to help you better understand God’s love for you and what that means for your identity and purpose in this season of life. Together we can seek God’s wisdom as you pursue healing, growth, comfort, and renewed direction. I do offer a 30 minute Initial Consultation, you can select this option when requesting an appointment.
