Cody Simpson, Associate Biblical Counsellor

I am an ABC certified Biblical Counsellor and a Pastor and Church-Planter of 7 years. Over this time I have been blessed to walk with many individuals and couples navigate seasons of hardship, hopelessness and suffering towards a greater understanding of God’s love and grace.

It was through my early experiences discipling new believers in our church plant that I discovered the great need for Biblical answers to deep heart and soul struggles, and a community of people to gracefully accept those in the midst of confusing and painful seasons of life. Most of all though, it has been my own experience of personal brokenness and God’s incredible grace towards me that has given me a heart and compassion to support others.

At the heart of Jesus’ story is grace-filled redemption. For myself, this isn’t only a belief but a path of healing. I have come to see life transformation, growth, healing, and overcoming to be real and powerful works that God is doing in people today.

My approach to counselling is gospel-centred: our true healing comes from Jesus, the one who Dane Ortlund in Gentle and Lowly describes as the “most understanding” and “approachable person in the universe.” I work to create a space of acceptance and understanding, as a fellow traveller in a sinful and broken world. Ultimately, the Bible is where we as counsellor and counsellee meet Jesus, and seek His wisdom, guidance, and love through whatever trial is being experienced. I also approach counselling with a clinically-informed and holistic perspective. I think we often forget that God cares for the whole person, body and mind as well as soul, and common grace knowledge can further help inform us how to live healthy, God-honouring lives.

My primary areas of focus are:

• Men struggling with spiritual and emotional issues, and relationships.

• Men struggling with pornography and sexuality

• Marital & Pre-Marital Counselling (Along with my wife)

I am available online or in-person for those in the Montreal area.

Along with my wife and two young kids, I live in the suburbs west of Montreal. I have a deep interest in spiritual formation, disciplines, and study, which take up a fair bit of my spare time, but I also indulge in classic literature and history, as well as long-distance running.

My goal for our time together is to help you more concretely understand God’s love for you and what that means for your identity and purpose in this world, and then help discern God’s purpose for this season of life you are in, whether it be for your healing, growth, comfort, or wisdom.
