Mel Neufeld | Biblical Counsellor | ABC Level 2 | CCTCP Level 2
I am an ABC Certified Biblical Counsellor and serve women and children who are facing significant struggles. I work with women and children ages five and older.
My goal is to offer gospel-centred care that addresses both body and soul. I seek to sit patiently with people in their suffering, point them to the comfort of Christ, and help them apply biblical truth in ways that lead to deeper rest and peace in Him.
Areas of Focus
I most often work with Women navigating struggles such as:
- Trauma and abuse
- Sexual assault
- Infertility
- Infant loss or abortion grief
- Perinatal and postpartum anxiety or depression
- Pornography addiction
Children (ages 5 and older) facing challenges such as:
- Grief and loss
- Anxiety or anger
- Divorce in the family
- Friendship struggles
Calling and Journey
The Lord directed my path into biblical counselling as I began to see the growing need in Canadian churches for care that faithfully addresses human suffering according to Scripture.
My own experience also shaped this calling. During my first pregnancy, I struggled with perinatal anxiety and postpartum depression.
At that time, there was very little support available, even from secular sources, and almost no Christian care that addressed these struggles from a biblical perspective. Because biblical counselling became such a life-giving help to me personally, I developed a deep desire to see this ministry grow in Canada so that others
could receive the same kind of care.
Training and Formation
I am certified as a Biblical Counsellor through the Association of Biblical Counselors, having completed both Level 1 and Level 2 training. I am also a Level 2 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider through the Christian Trauma Healing Network.
In addition, I have completed trauma-focused training through the Arizona Trauma Institute and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
My Approach to Biblical Counselling
I often say that I am simply a woman sitting at a desk with a Bible. Biblical counselling depends on God working through His Word, prayer, and the compassionate presence of someone who is willing to walk with another person through suffering.
In the counselling room, my desire is to be gracious, relational, merciful, and Christ-focused. I seek to help people bring their struggles honestly before the Lord while learning to trust Him more deeply in the midst of them.
I also pray regularly for those I counsel, beginning when their name first appears on my schedule and continuing long after our time together has ended.
At this time, I do not counsel individuals experiencing active crisis or suicidal ideation, substance abuse cases, or marriage counselling.
Life Beyond Counselling
I live in Winnipeg with my husband of ten years and our four young children (plus three embryos).
In my limited free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, meeting friends for coffee, reading, crocheting, and listening to Reddit stories while cleaning. These small routines help bring rest and joy to daily life.
An Invitation
If you are considering counselling, you may already be carrying burdens that feel heavy or confusing. Reaching out for help can feel uncertain, but it can also be an important step toward clarity, healing, and hope.
God is not distant from our suffering. Scripture reminds us that He is “the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort,” who meets His people in their affliction and strengthens them with His care (2 Corinthians 1:3–4). My prayer is that our time together would help you experience the comfort of Christ and learn how to walk through your struggles with renewed hope.
Since I began counselling with Gospel Care Collective before the Canadian branch opened, my schedule is currently hosted on our U.S. partner site. To book a session, please click the “Request Appointment” button below.
